CE 9 December Examination Preparation

Hello class!

I have made some advanced preparation sheets available for the CE 9 examination. If you look to the right of your computer screen under CE 9, you will find a link entitled "CE 9 December Exam Preparation" that will bring you to a place where you can download a bunch of help sheets for the long answer questions and 50 multiple choice questions related to those on the exam.

Download them, print them out, and prepare the long answer questions. It will help you immensely for the examination.

Prepare well. Put in the time and you will get good results.

CE 9 Exam preparation PART 1

Hello everyone!

I really hope you took advantage of the opportunity for confession today. A truly amazing sacrament in every way.

Last class, we covered the four types of prayer

Petition --> Asking God for something --> "Help me Lord!", "Give us this day our daily bread"

Adoration --> Admitting how great and holy God is! --> "How great Thou art!", "Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of power and might"

Contrition --> Being sorry for sins --> "My God, I have forgotten Thee", "Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death" (THIS IS CONTRITION IN THE SENSE THAT YOU ARE ADMITTING YOU ARE A SINNER; THIS IS ALSO A PETITION BECAUSE IT IS ASKING Mary FOR PRAYERS)

Thanksgiving --> Giving thanks to God for blessings received. --> The Holy Eucharist (Mass) is a big "thank you"; we use the Mass to say a proper thank you to God for giving us His only Son.
ALSO --> Any thanks you give to God for graces you have received is a prayer of thanksgiving.

We use the word "PACT" to help us remember the four kinds of prayer:

petition, adoration, contrition, thanksgiving

Make sure you can analyze the Our Father prayer and the Hail Mary prayer to figure out which parts contain petition, adoration, contrition, and thanksgiving

Molarity conversions

Hello class,

Today, although many were missing, we practiced more of mol/L to mol conversions. Practice is extremely valuable in understanding a certain concept. I suggest you practice questions 59 to 65 in order to get a sure grasp of the concept involved.

CE 10 December Exam Questions

Hello class,

For those of you who missed today's CE 10 class, the exam format has been changed.

THERE ARE NO MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTIONS ON THE DECEMBER CE 10 EXAMINATION!

The questions will be in the format of multiple-paragraph questions (not a structured essay, but 200 word written responses).

However, for your delight, here are the questions I will be asking on the exam (yes, the exact questions)

QUESTION 1:

Tiny Tim goes to the store and steals his favourite candy. Discuss the end, means, and execution of this act.

QUESTION 2:

Is true and lasting happiness subjective? Why or why not? Give an example to illustrate your reasoning.

QUESTION 3:

Is a person held responsible for the temptations he/she has if they do not act upon that temptation? Why or why not? Give an example to illustrate your point.

Molarity or Molar Concentration

Today in class, we covered "molarity" or "molar concentration".

I gave a handout for molarity which is called "Hebden - Molarity problems". You can find it by clicking the link on the right "Mole Conversions Notes".

I will have the booklet uploaded in Google docs by 8:00 pm tonight!

Science 10 Acids & Bases Test

Hello everyone,

Today in Science 10, we wrote a test on acids, bases, and pH.

There is multiple choice, naming & formulae of acids, and a long answer question which is based on chemical reactions.

Learn what the indicators are and how to use the pH scales. Read your textbook for the answers.

Those of you who did not have the chance to write it yet, you will write it Monday after school or Wednesday after school BECAUSE we need to review rates of chemical reactions and have a quiz in it before exams rolls around (please!)

The more tests you give me, the more material I have to give you a mark. That's it!^^

CE 10 December Exam Update

Hello,

It is final: the format of the December CE 10 Exam has been changed. It will consist of a series of multiple-paragraph answers that are related to what you have actually been learning. I will post the questions here as soon as they have been finalized with the all Christian Education Department members

CE 9 Examination Prep

Today, we went over the December examination preparation. Please meet up with one of your classmates and get the answers to the Advent booklet we are covering.

Explain the difference between how Adam & Eve tried to be like God and how Jesus showed us to be like God. Use Philippians 2:6-11 as a reference.

CE 10 December Exam

Hello class,

FIRSTLY:

As of today, I will be meeting with my colleagues teaching CE 10 and we will change the format of the Christmas examination so that it will cover more of the material you have been learning in my class.

The exam format will most likely be no multiple choice and only essay-type questions.

Please check this blog for any updates on the status of the CE 10 December examination.

I can tell you this: One of the essay questions will depend entirely on your understanding of the Human Act rubric we have been working on.

SECONDLY:

The homework due for this class was to fill out a human act rubric based on an event or goal in your own life.

I have 5 people who passed it in on time. Congratulations to you five. Come see me for your marks on Friday.

Please get it in to me, it will help you for exam prep.

THIRDLY:

Keep posting on the Community Forum (www.stephencovey.com)! I will tally them all up and it will tell me a lot about consistency (another virtue that I am not so good at yet).

Acids & Bases

Today in Science 10, we reviewed (AGAIN) acids & bases.

Molarity or Molar Concentration

Today in class, we went over the answers to last class' homework. The answers to the mole conversions handout from last class and all other moles notes can be found in the link on the right of the blog under the heading CHEM 11 ("Mole Conversion Notes").

Using density in mole conversions

Hello class,

Today we practiced more mole conversion questions, but using density (g/mL) as a unit conversion factor to solve particular problems.

Acids & bases REVIEW

Hello everyone,

today, we reviewed acids & bases further.

Also, make sure you know these chemical reactions:

acid + base --> a salt + H2O

metal oxide + H2O --> metal hydroxide (base)

non-metal oxide + H2O --> acid

acid + metal --> a salt + H2 (gas)

acid + any carbonate --> a salt + H2CO3 + CO2

These equations are found in your notes titled "SALTS"

CE 10 - Human Act Rubric

Hello class,

We have been working on perfecting our understanding of the breakdown of the "human act"--or deliberately willed actions.

Unit Conversions - Litres to Moles

Today in Chemistry 11, we worked with converting between litres and moles using the conversion factor

22.7 L gas @ STP/mol

Remember, it MUST be a gas, and it MUST be at Standard Temperature & Pressure ("STP").
